The driver of the truck that died after crashing on the Southfield - TopicsExpress

The driver of the truck that died after crashing on the Southfield freeway pulling down a bridge Friday was identified as 54-year-old Stanford Doll. Fox 2 spoke to a longtime friend of Stanford Doll who said she is heartbroken at the news. She described Doll as a good man, a private man, who will be greatly missed. Doll was killed early Friday morning when his waste hauling truck he was driving struck the pedestrian bridge over the Southfield freeway near Cathedral and Joy roads. Police sat he was going at least 55 miles per hour when the boom on his truck collided with the bridge causing it to collapse. Fox 2 is told that Doll, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, actually got out of his vehicle, afterward. He was seen walking around, but then collapsed on the ground. He later died at Sinai Grace Hospital. Doll worked for TLC Waste Services out of Romulus. Since July the company has been involved in two other incidents captured by Fox 2 cameras. One in which a truck hailing scrap metal flipped on its side near Telegraph and Plymouth roads, spilling its load. The other in September. Thats when a worker was electrocuted after the boom on that truck hit a power line. Investigators believe in this latest incident Doll likely would have survived if he was wearing a seat belt. An autopsy will be performed on Saturday to confirm the cause of death.
