The eagle release was a wonderful success. We had over 200 people show up to send a young male bald eagle home for the holidays. One of the wonderful things is that about a third of the crowd was made up of children, the majority of whom enjoyed it greatly! The eagle, patient number 14-1955, cooperated and flew away very decisively. He was happy to be free. Most of the crowd were first timers, so it was a big thrill for most of them to see this happen. The setting, Natural Chimneys Regional Park, provided a beautiful backdrop for the release. Thanks to former WCV staff member, and current Natural Chimneys Regional Park Manager, Kelly Roark, for hosting us. This was the eleventh eagle release of the year, a new record for us. It was an early Christmas present for all who came.
