The early-80s Josie Cotton song Johnny, Are You Queer? made her sort of a one-hit wonder, even leading to a prom-scene cameo in the Nicolas Cage movie Valley Girl. But what you probably dont know is that the songs origin actually goes back to one of LAs most well known punk bands. The song was originally written by a member of the SoCal punk band Fear, going through a couple of name changes and being recorded as Fetch Me One More Beer in the late 70s. Fears management group asked to use the song for another band they were working with, rewriting the lyrics and giving it to The Go-Gos. When the Go-Gos broke off ties with the management group, the song was taken away from them, eventually becoming the Josie Cotton version that most people familiar with the song now know.
