The editors at Interrupt, a student-run publication housed in the UCI Center for Excellence in Writing, are calling for pieces of innovative undergraduate writing to be featured in a brand new digital publication entitled Interrupt. They strive to create a platform for thinkers who can contribute original ideas, particularly those ideas whose scope can be extended beyond the classroom. At Interrupt, they aspire to be a comprehensive and diverse publication that a variety of readers can enjoy. For the inaugural issue, Interrupt is seeking submissions from all disciplines, as it is their aim to highlight the breadth of analytical writing produced by the UCI community. Why should YOU submit work? 1) to help create an intellectual reputation and build an audience of readers of student writing; 2) to participate in extended discussions about subjects you are passionate about; 3) to develop confidence in your critical abilities; 4) to strengthen your resume / CV. The writing that will ultimately be published must possess one or more of the following qualities: 1) Active and passionate voice; 2) Sound logic and clear exposition; 3) Narrative, historical reference, or an illuminating personal anecdote; 4) Ambitious premise and satisfying conclusion; 5) Provocative or iconoclastic view that is well argued. They ask you to please submit your work by November 29 (although this deadline is flexible, and they do encourage you to submit final papers from classes you are taking the Fall quarter). Send submissions to: interruptjournal@gmail or upload directly to their Dropbox: dropitto.me/interruptjournal (password: interrupt). Interrupt is coming to UCI Winter 2013/2014. Stay tuned writing.uci.edu/interrupt/ for updates. Interrupt
