The end and the beginning; thats what it was all about the past few days. My daughter-in-laws grandfather Don just passed away at age 92. He was a great guy and 91 of his 92 years were spent in good health. He worked until he was 89! I went to his wake to pay my respects to his family but also to him. I had great conversations with the man. He knew baseball and we spent plenty of time talking about the greats of that sport --- many of whom he had seen. The flip side of saying goodbye to another person from the Greatest Generation was spending time with my grandkids; ages (almost) nine and seven. It was the pool, candy, more pool, Chinese food and pancakes. I played a game with the grandkids where they beat me out of $30 each. My grand daughter will save it; my grandson will immediately try to spend it. I was speaking to my daughter-in-laws father Charlie, a wonderful guy, and we both said this: We are now on the front lines. I hold a huge family Christmas Party. There was a time I was one of the youngest at it. Now I am the oldest. It is the end and the beginning.
