The entertainment industry and mass media could also pave the way for cultural awakening, for instance, by exploring local cultures. Instead of producing unrealistic sinetron (soap operas) in unending episodes, TV stations and production houses could work on film adaptation of local literary works and folklores such as Siti Nurbaya, Sengsara Membawa Nikmat, and Sangkuriang. Patriotism would take root if the central government heeds local cultures seriously, as opposed to promoting only Jakarta and Java.
