The environmental crisis in China is not just harming China and neighbouring countries but the whole world. And it has sparked many protests and even violent clashes, large and small, between Chinese civilians and authorities. Its more than about the environment, its about Chinas democracy, says one of the Chinese interviewees in documentary film Walking the Green Tiger, which is one of the films to be screened in New York. The series of documentary film screening on the environmental crisis in China and Tibet is FREE, but youll need to register (on the link below) soon. Its at Asia Society, New York on August 18-27. Some directors/filmmakers will be there. The festival includes a film about Tibetan nomads using yak dung as firewood and building material and a film tracking down drunken Ewenti (a mountain tribe in northeastern China) moose hunter.
