The establishment left at work in America! indoctrinating the articulate, political class while everyone else is expected to passively fall in line. NYT columnist and PBS NewsHour favourite David the buffoon Brooks has been at the vanguard of this effort for years and last Mondays PSA demonstrates as much - deluding readers about the realities which surround us and unabashedly advocating for an elite-dominated, market-oriented society - precisely the kind of cancerous social structure which has led to this reality which Brooks must disguise as progress. Lets review some of his greatest hits and compare to Mondays (SEPT 22) lesson. Brooks on history: Over the centuries, civilized leaders have banded together to restrain their desire for regional dominance (APRIL 28). Post-WWII, Americans felt responsible for creating a global order that would nurture the spread of democracy and democracy won (JUNE 26). Reaganism — the belief that America should use its power to defeat tyranny and promote democracy (MAR 10). We face nothing like…a civilization-threatening crisis like World War I. We’re seeing a decline in civil wars and warfare generally. We are living in a golden age (SEPT 22). Brooks on politics: democracy has structural flaws; reform ought to be unapologetically elitist; governing should be carried out by small groups of the great and the good together, who should then rally establishment opinion to browbeat plans through, like push[ing] control over poverty programs to local charities... push educational diversity through charter schools... introduce more market mechanisms into public provision of health care (MAY 19). We don’t suffer from an abuse of power as much as a nonuse of power. We need to get over the childish notion that we don’t need a responsible leadership class, that power can be wielded directly by the people. We need to be led and have faith in elites to govern from the top, because America was governed best when it was governed by a... responsible elite (SEPT 22).
