The establishment of military courts to try civilians means the Judiciary, one of three organs of a modern state, has collapsed in Pakistan. The collapse of an organ of a state signifies that the civil society is imploding. This is a tacit acceptance of a collapse of the State of Pakistan. It also means the country is under de facto martial law and the Army will rule the country, and the civilian government will act as a facade to give an illusion of a functioning democracy. In fact, the judiciary and the police have always been seen by the people as the instuments of state suppression and coercion since early 1950s. Why the people of Bangladesh wanted independence from Pakistan? Why there is uprising in Balochistan? Why are the young educated people from Sindh and southern Punjab are joining in droves the Communist Party or socialist-oriented parties ? To join police, one must pay a bribe of half a million rupees. We must answer the very fundamental question: Why do people join extremist parties ? What motivates people or rather compel the people to join militants? What is the narrative of Political Islam , and Caliphate ? Unless we analyse these narratives and do their autopsy and fully comprehend its semantics and dynamics, we can never defeat the militants. All we do is called in a plain language self-deception. - Kurush Murad.
