The evening peaked when she walked in. She wiped her face gently - TopicsExpress

The evening peaked when she walked in. She wiped her face gently as she took a deep breath. Time seemed to slow down and as she took off her jacket and dropped her umbrella. Quietly, she moved beside the door. She had on a red gown that complimented her glimmering black hair and pearl neck ornament. She made the room seem brighter as the music played. The drums beat slowly, her every move blending with the trumpet’s tone, note for note. The night turned golden as she smiled to everyone, curtsying slightly. She had radiant eyes that seemed dull only in comparison with her gorgeous smile. I was enthralled. Like mystical times, and medieval periods, when Shakespeare those glorious tales told; of warlocks, warriors, kings and of knights, who fought bravely to defend the honour of their ladies, ladies worth dying for. There I was, charmed, wondering whence her beauty came, for she wasn’t overly extravagant but perfectly modest in everything. Everything seemed to fade as her image grew bolder, boldly transforming my idea of what a beautiful woman should be. She looked across the room to answer her friend that came calling; “Catherine”. I turned aside to greet an acquaintance, it only took a minute-a minute too long- for when I returned to see the lady, she was nowhere. She was everywhere, the lady Catherine, in every lady I saw. Of course there were occasions where her host overly made her up or transformed the lady into an assassin-dressed to kill. They go all the way to look great, and they do, they really do. Brazilian hair, Chinese weaves, attachments and cosmetic surgeries- all to make the lady beautiful, but the lady is beautiful already. I only wished she knew her man can’t tell the difference between a $1000 weave and that of a $100. I only wished she knew that as much as he cares about her good looks, he cares even more about her confidence and self-worth. I turned aside to greet someone, and when I returned… there she was... beautiful, smart and awe-inspiring…the lady Catherine.
