The events in Ferguson this week made me grieve for Michael Brown, as well as the unjust and unfortunate loss of life in our country and around the world every minute. Michael Brown reminds me that I enjoy incredible privileges every one of those minutes, and he shows me that life can be taken from us too soon. With that, Id like to post my thanks on Facebook this year, firstly so I can thank my friends and family for sharing information and their thoughts and feelings on Michael Browns story - you connected with me and helped me understand more deeply. Thank you to my new friends at the U; the supportive and caring community weve created takes time and energy, and you all have been behind it 100%. Thanks to SLC, and the persistent blue skies and now snowy mountains that help me through the stress of school. Thanks to my friends back home, who send me care packages and emails with subject lines that just say You are missed. Thank you to my husband, who goes on long walks with me and who spoils me absolutely rotten. And thank you to my family whose love makes all of this possible.
