The expression “a little goes a long way” is absolute truth. We need to remember that people cannot know what you do not express. If someone is in a crisis, having a bad time, or simply needs an encouraging word to know you’re thinking of them, to simply think it is not the same as an outward expression. It’s funny how we love to display our feelings when it’s directed as a reprimand, but when it comes to extending love, compassion, mercy, or any form of encouragement, we’re just too busy or too shy to say and/or show it. I have been just as guilty as the next person, but I don’t want to be guilty of withholding good from people. I will aggressively address wrongs, but I want to equally acknowledge that which is correct and good. If you love someone, tell them – show them. If you miss someone, tell them – show them. If someone is doing a great job, well…you get the point. Be considerate of others. People cannot read your mind. Be quick to encourage, exhort, and acknowledge those who do what is right.
