The extension of the Prohibited Burning Period expires at midnight tonight, 14 April. As of 15 April, Shire of Mundaring will then be in the Restricted Burning Period, meaning residents are able to burn small piles of garden refuse after 6pm without a permit subject to: • The pile of refuse being burnt does not exceed 1 sqm • A 5m wide area free of flammable material surrounds the pile • The fire is only it between 6pm and 11pm • Only one pile is alight at one time • The fire is completely extinguished by midnight • At least one person is in attendance at all times Burning before 6pm requires a permit. The Shire does not issue permits to burn – you need to contact your local brigade. Brigade contact details are available on the Shires website and in the Fire and Burning Information Booklet sent to all residents with their rates.
