The fact that Sicily is mostly a mix of Moor and Greek is not a huge secret and predates the Roman reference in this article by 3000 years. The west side is heavily Moorish, the east side Greek, and North Africa is just 100 miles from western Sicily. The interior are where the Arbereshe, Macedonians and yes, Trojans settled. The Romans ousted the Greeks in the east and then fought for control of Sicily against Carthage in the Punic war. In north Italy, people are mixed with the Swiss and Germans. Many are light skinned and blue eyed. As every Sicilian knows, this has led to extreme racism towards Sicilians for a very long time.
