The fact that people are so easily offended by a post made by a scientist is a testament to the true situational ignorance of the American populous. There are great economic unbalances, the number of rich people has never been lower, great, or great if not for the fact that the USA has seen 20% of its populous living in abject poverty. Whats more, 22 US citizens a day are killed in wars over black oil that, in a painful spike of irony, is killing our planet slowly. Even more, were seeing a decline in US citizens that have a knowledge or interest in classical history and politics and culture; the country is getting dumber and more complacent in the histories of its founding fathers. In some cases, to the point of shining, blinding ignorance towards the intentions and motivations of their founding fathers. Let us not forget that the vast majority of American people and law makers are under the idea that we are one nation under god, while shrugging aside the first amendment as if it was not there at all. We need a citizenry that is armed with the tools of science and knowledge and able to debate with a free flow of uncensored, raw ideas. And I know we will, eventually, get just that, but how many generations? How many of us must pass before it comes? For now, we must relent in the fact of these ignorances in light of them having no greater effect at this moment, so, of course, be offended by a tweet, by all means.
