The fact that there are people willing to openly support and agree with the horrible acts this misogynistic, spoiled, entitled, mentally skewed acts this seriously deranged (and as far as Im concerned horrible youth) committed makes me sick to my stomach. But it does bring forward the way young people tend to see women. As objects to be had. A commodity for an entitled young man to enjoy. Something he should have. Something to be had. Something he deserves. Not a person to share an experience with. Not a partner to love. Not someone to cherish. Not someone to share your life with. Not even a person to greet on the street. This violent young man has lowered the value of women to that of something we run to Walgreen or CVS that we use for 5 min and then throw away, like a piece of gum. Something we are entitled to get when we want it, something we use, and finally something we promptly dispose of. This is why we need to talk about Elliot Rodgers. Because women are so much more. We are people, we are mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, lovers, friends, we are individuals with thoughts, feelings, emotions, intelligence, power and so much more. We are not a commodity or something to be had. Although what happened was a nightmare, complete horror and a tragedy, it has finally opened up a crucial dialogue for America to have. #YesAllWomen
