“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure,” “Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.” Who said this? It sounds like a common sense position doesnt it? Do think a Republican said this? Sadly, no. These words were said by Senator Barack Obama in 2006. My how things have changed. Under President Bush, the debt increased by nearly 5 trillion in 8 years which is a ridiculous amount of money. Under President Obama, we are already an additional 6 trillion in the hole and have a few more years of no budget spending and cave-in Republicans letting the left get away with even more reckless spending. Just to give you an idea of how much 17 trillion dollars is...look at the pictures watch the video (scroll down) demonocracy.info/infographics/usa/us_debt/us_debt.html
