The farming/raising of the Native Pig, as a rural-based Backyard - TopicsExpress

The farming/raising of the Native Pig, as a rural-based Backyard Economic activity, is not new. What is new, to me, is Ferds advocacy of transforming this Backyard Family Activity into a Commercial Integrated Business - by giving attention to 2 Sets-of-Concerns: (1st) Breeding, Feeding, Housing; (2nd) Farming, Trading, Processing, Marketing; and by soliciting National Government Support. Coincidentally, Ferds Advocacy for the Native Pig matches-up with DA/BAIs National Program on the Native Animal Development. And it has been mentioned repeatedly by Dr Bing Cresencio (Director, BAI), that Government Support could reach the emerging Native Pig Industry - only thru entities with Legal Personalities. For this very reason, organizing the Native Pig Industry Assn of the Philippines (NPIAP) and legitimizing it as a SEC-registered non-stock non-profit association of like-minded individuals was decided by the majority of those attending an Organizational Meeting as held at the BAI Directors Office sometime late September 2014. It was clear to me then, as it is still clear to me now, that Ferds Proposition for (Vision of) NPIAP is Industry Representation (or a Single Voice) in its dealings with Government, et.al. Moreover, it was likewise clear that NPIAP Membership would not deny those wanting to form/join my proposed/envisioned Native Pig Farmers Coop (aka: Kooperatiba ng Industriya ng Katutubong Baboy ng Pilipinas - KIKBP). As NPIAP was meant for Industry Representation, I envision KIKBP as the Money Machine. For this reason, I expressed my doubts about NPIAPs long List-of-Expectations. The apparent disillusionment of some NPIAP Members (& prospective Members) as to Ferds Leadership of NPIAP, as I could gather from their FB-posted comments, is sad - but not surprising to me. In any case, each knows his/her Needs & Wants. Some may opt for NPIAP Membership only. Some may opt for the KIKBP only. Some may want to join both. Some may continue to simply be on their own - alone. The ultimate decision is his/hers alone. While the FB is a good venue for each expressing his/her views, I contend that only Eyeball-to-Eyeball Meetings would tell if indeed there is Good Chemistry among prospective business partners. My invitation to come to my HomeOffice (#16, lower Bronze st., SSS Village, Marikina City / 0919-7213878) & to brainstorm with me on my envisioned Native Pig Farmers Coop remains open - but my invitation expires when the Magic-15 Founders are complete.
