The fee for engineering courses in 195 colleges across the state has been reduced to Rs 30,000 per annum from Rs 35,000 last year. In 434 colleges, fees have been fixed between Rs 35,000 and Rs 1.13lakh per annum. Almost 19 colleges have not fixed fees, which means they would be barred from giving admissions. The new fee structure will be applicable for a block period of three years, starting from academic year 2013-14. This will be the common fee for both merit quota (70 per cent) and management quota (30 per cent) seats While Rs 35,000 fee was fixed for 258 engineering colleges, only 176 colleges could secure the fees of over Rs 35,000.
