The field trip to the MN Landscape Arboretum was a great field - TopicsExpress

The field trip to the MN Landscape Arboretum was a great field trip. The children and teachers learned about transportation costs for food and how locally grown food saves on resources. They learned about apples being developed over the years to grow in Minnesota. The students then made their own apple sauce and ate some. They also learned about researchers at the U of M are trying to develop sweet potatoes that grow well in the cold northern climate of Minnesota. The students then made some sweet potato pie and tried some. They also learned about the three sisters of beans, corn, and squash grown by Native Americans. It was a great trip!
