The final day of competition at the Coventry Open IJS also brought - TopicsExpress

The final day of competition at the Coventry Open IJS also brought us the Junior FPs. Unfortunately the Ladies Competition dropped down to 14 competitors due to several withdrawals. The first skater to take to the ice in the second group was Harriet Beatson representing Sheffield, who had won the SP the day before. Receiving no negative GOEs for her all round solid program, that opened and closed with two super L4 change foot combination spins (the first flying, the second not) performed with speed and in good positions and included ten competent double jumps, Harriet placed 1st again with a score of 63.98. Following Harriet on to the ice, having followed her into 2nd place in the SP the day before, was Sheffield team mate Morgan Swales. Performed with maturity and speed across the ice, Morgans FP included 9 solid double jumps and spins that demonstrated lovely positions particularly her L4 flying sit spin to finish. Morgan again followed Harriet into 2nd place with a score of 62.67 that also included a very good PCS. And opening up the third group of skaters was Malika Sharshenbaeva representing Coventry. Skating to Summertime, and wearing a beautiful pale aqua green coloured dress, Malika opened with a triple salchow on which she unfortunately fell and included in her program a solid double axel single axel sequence. Finishing with a well centred L4 change foot combination spin held in good positions Malika placed 3rd with a score of 56.93. Afterwards double winner Harriet said that she was really happy but that she also wanted to say well done to all the other skaters :-) . JCB
