The final night of Iowa’s Championship rodeo and as always we - TopicsExpress

The final night of Iowa’s Championship rodeo and as always we are a bit sad to leave this great bunch of people we work with on this committee. Thanks to all of them for their kindness and we look forward to 2015. Another thanks to Vince and Susan Hilton for the hospitality to the crew. You feed them, wash their clothes and give them a place to lay their heads every year and we certainly appreciate you. In the bareback riding tonight the high score and the Sapp Brothers gas card went to the Schlegal brothers, Jerad and Joel were both 75. But it was the world champion Will Lowe that took home the first prize and $3330 check. Casey Breuer was second and Iowa’s Tim O’Connell third. In the steer wrestling tonight’s fastest time went to Jacob Edler with a 5.2, good enough for a third place tie but the average win was Wade Steffen’s. Wade took home $3724 from Sidney. Good news for that circuit cowboy. In the team roping Adam Rose and Billie Saebens were the average winners with 12.6 on two steers taking home a tie for first in round one, second in go two besides the average win and nearly $2800 each in prize money. In the saddle bronc riding the top score tonight went to the former NFR cowboy that now calls Colorado home, Cody Martin with 80 points on –Q47 Whistlin Dixie while young Dalton Kingery from Monroe, Iowa was close behind with a 79 with 204 Sacred Sacrifice. The win went to Sam Spreadborough with his 83 last night and a nice check for $3700. In the tiedown roping, it was the Huber boys of Albia, Iowa taking all the money. Father Bill Huber, one of the best ropers ever, ended the rodeo second in the average to his youngest son Cody. Cody nabbed second in the round and first in the average and will add $2000 to his circuit earnings. Arkansas roper Payden Emmett won round two. In the barrel race, fast time tonight was 18.72 by Korrina Hughes but no money for her. Barrels knocked down cost a couple of girls but Sarah Rose McDonald walked away with the win and a nice $2200 in her Cinch jeans. In the bull riding nobody managed to make the whistle tonight and Tanner Bothwell walked away with $4466 for the win. Tonight was the last performance of fighting bulls for us by Cory Walls. Always a class act, I know he will move on to the next phase of his life and be successful. Thanks for all the fine work you have done over the years. It’s time for the Cervi crew to load up and whip and spur to Akron, Colorado for a one o’clock performance tomorrow. God willing we will all make it safely. Happy Trails! Rodeo Rose (who is too damn old to drive all night alone but will anyway).
