The final part of the presentation at the Emerald Tablet in North Beach took place out on Columbus Avenue. The audience was invited to work with each other or to approach strangers on the street, asking and learning something from them. It happened to be at the tail end of the World Cup Soccer match between Columbia and Uruguay and people were excitedly spilling out of the bars onto the street. Happy, enthusiastic, slightly intoxicated people who were willing to try anything. My sister and nephew were visiting from Montana and encountered a soccer fan from Canada who demonstrated an unexpectedly effective hockey check on my nephew. Soccer.
