The financial sector led by large international banks lies at the heart of the British imperialist economy. The government will take all steps necessary to sustain that financial sector and the support of its highly-paid corporate bankers. That is why George Osborne is prepared to fight to protect bankers’ bonuses and has launched a legal challenge to the European Union’s proposed cap on bankers’ bonuses on the grounds that the cap undermines financial stability.
