The finest swords can be made only one way – through the trial - TopicsExpress

The finest swords can be made only one way – through the trial of fire. During the times of the Old Testament, blacksmiths were present to hammer and pound raw material in a blazing fire that melted away impurities. It wasn’t an easy process for the sword, of course. Even today, the same process is needed with heat, hammering, and melting away impurities. As Christians, we sometimes feel the heat of the refiner’s fire. All of us go through seasons in our lives that are a little uncomfortable, where we’re feeling the heat. But when things happen that we don’t like, it’s good to remember what’s taking place: God is like that blacksmith, shaping us into something perfect for His kingdom. When you’re cold, you’re rigid. When you heat up, you get flexible – you bend easily, shaping easily into something God can use. That’s why it’s best to stay on fire for Him, and stay flexible. God is always ready to do something new, and only those with a fiery passion for His service can be used. The heat also melts away impurities. We all have them: things in our lives that don’t need to be there. Paul wrote that we all have fallen short, and no one is perfect. That’s why when we feel that heat, it’s best to remember that God can use that to perfect us, get rid of those imperfections, and make us something He can use. Trials and tribulations come to us all. And yes, many times it’s not fun being put through the fire, pounded, and shaped into something different. But when we remember the end product we’re destined to become, that helps us remember that all things work together for those who love and serve Him. In the end, you’ll be a perfect instrument God can use, tried by fire.
