There were three seasons, but the first was entirely black and white so what many of us remember from our after-school TV habits are the second two seasons. In The Producer, the fourth episode of the third season, the castaways stage a musical version of Hamlet so that a producer (played by Phil Silvers) might reconsider Gingers talent and ultimately decide to use her in a movie. The episode is listed as the number three greatest sitcom episode of all time in the book Inside TV Land. Silvers Gladasya production company helped finance the Gilligans Island series and according to several reports, Silvers earned more money from his percentage in that series than from any of his own endeavors.
