The first Orange-tip (Anthocharis cardamines) of 2014 has been reported! It was seen in Fareham, Hampshire on 16th March, just over a week earlier than its normal first appearance. One of the most colourful spring butterflies, it is only the male Orange-tips that have the vivid colour on their wings.
