The first case of Ebola has been diagnosed in Dallas, Texas. The - TopicsExpress

The first case of Ebola has been diagnosed in Dallas, Texas. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention held a news conference and offered a failed attempt to quell any fear. Why did it fail? Well... We were assured that all medical facilities in the United States were provided with bulletins on what to look for and what questions to ask if a patient presented with symptoms, which are essentially flu-like during the first stages. Within that bulletin, were instructions to ASK the patient if they had travelled to or from South Africa. The Dallas patient is a Liberian national who perfectly fit the criteria to warrant isolation and testing, The patient went to the hospital on the 26th but was sent home, only to come back on the 28th to get admitted. Additionally, the CDC director stated during the news conference that we all share the air that we breathe giving the impression that Ebola is airborne. He was later corrected by the director of the hospital where the patient is now in isolation. The CDC is now stating that they are positive that they can control any potential outbreak as a result of this failure to identify. Considering all of the mistakes that have already been made for this ONE patient, confidence is not high.
