The first confusional point who have the orientalists, they think that islam and tradition (social tradition) are the same faces of the coin this idea is far from the real analyze of the religious and the social phenomena in the islamic world. Yes in some cases islam is the extension to some traditional acts but we cant shorten all islam in few acts, islam is a general system you can find politic, economy and social, when the islam came the prophet began correcting the arabic traditions before the islamic rules because we cant order people to do new acts before correcting or removing the old acts. Mt last point is the best climate of fanatism and fundamentalism is : when you find people revere the social tradition at the expense of the real islamic rules.
