"The first day or so, we all pointed to our countries. The third or fourth day, we were pointing to our continents. By the fifth day, we were aware of only one Earth." --Prince Sultan Bin Salmon Al-Saud, Saudi Arabian astronaut This global perspective is common among astronauts. I can only imagine what it would be like to see the entire planet from orbit or standing on the Moon. The perspective shift that gives a person must be such that it renders thoughts of nationalism, religion, politics, or any of the myriad other things that separate us daily as so much provincial bullshit. I think I would return from space elated and impatient. Thanks to Marcy Donelson for the link to the quote.
