The first day we arrived at the Ashford Studios for our Vikings adventure, there was an hour or so when everyone was busy and they didnt know what to do with is. So they asked the fiber artist Katrina to babysit us. She took us up to her loft above the costuming department, full of yarns and wool and bottles of dye and a big bubbling pot she was dying some tunics in. She gave us a quick, fun lesson in stick weaving. Kelley and I took turns weaving different bits of colored yarn to make a small patch of cloth. Then she took us back down to the costuming department to show is one of the hoods she had made using this technique. Its actually a very simple idea.
