The first four league games are over, when the fixtures came out - TopicsExpress

The first four league games are over, when the fixtures came out the vast majority of Wolves supporters stated what a difficult start we had back in the Championship. As we had to face the three teams relegated from the Premier League, and who are benefitting to the full from parachute payments. Well Norwich, Fulham & Cardiff have all been played, bettered and beaten 1-0. The defensive resilience that was the basis of our record breaking League One campaign has continued into this season. Kenny Jackett has kept a settled 11 in all of the league games to date. In goal we have the immovable object that is Carl Ikeme - Absolutely rock solid, the best goalkeeper outside the Premier League, and better than most of them in it too. At left-back Scott Goldbourne is Mr consistent, what a player defensively sound and always willing to offer himself as outlet with his overlapping runs. The best left-back at Molineux since Derek Parkin. Matt Doherty is keeping Sam Ricketts out of the team and that should tell you everything about what he is giving the team at the moment. At centre half we have Danny Batth, 100% always committed to the cause and not afraid to put his body on the line for the team. Some questioned his ability to step up to the Championship - Well hes handled everything with ease so far, as any good judge of player knew that he would do. Then theres his partner, Richard Stearman, is there a more improved player at Wolves than him? Playing with confidence and the trust of his manager Stears has flourished a better all-round player than the one that last played on a stop-start basis in the Championship. Some things just go together and are better in a combination than on their own, cheese & onion, fish & chips, The Southbank & singing - Batth & Stearman. Theyre just right together! In the engine room we have Kevin McDonald, what a player! hes the heartbeat of the team. Plays like a quarterback with virtually all our play starting through him. We have another midfielder who isnt in first team squad on a big contract and reportedly cost £5m. If that player was 100% fit and on top form, he still wouldnt get in front of K Mac. People have questioned the distribution of our centre halves - Well when they only have to pass the ball 5 yards to K Mac they can focus on their primary roles, defending! McDonald cost us £250k id hate to think what wed have to pay now if we had to replace him. His current partner in the middle of the park is Lee Evans, compliments K Mac so well. He runs, passes, tackles and has a good shot on him too. Hes getting better & better with each game, and will go on improving. The wing twins of Sako & RVLP have caused havoc for opposition defences so far this season. They offer a constant threat going forward, but the also offer cover when we dont have the ball and are willing to do the hard work KJ demands from all of his players. Dave Edwards is another who now he is injury free offers so much with his energy and physical presence, as he proved last season and against Norwich already he will weigh-in with vital goals. Nouha Dicko is like a sawn-off Mike Tyson, so physically strong - he doesnt give defenders or the opposition keeper a moments rest. He is going to be such an important player for us this season. Finally moving on to our head coach a man of the utmost integrity, one of the areas where he beats his predecessors is that he understands what the club means to us the Wolves supporters. The other notable area is that the players in-form keeps the shirt, if performance levels drop he will make the necessary changes. Not favour a lovechild capable of just putting in a shift The type of football we are playing is a joy to watch. Im sure KJ will add to the squad with one or two over the next month. This season is promising to be something special, home & away we have to play our role too - Back the 11 in the team to the hilt, in every game from the first to the final minute. Be THE 12th man. Finally remember: FWAW!!!
