The first meteor shower of the year, the Quadrantids, will peak - TopicsExpress

The first meteor shower of the year, the Quadrantids, will peak late tonight. The best viewing will be after midnight tonight, and especially towards dawn as the nearly full moon sets just before 6 am. The Quadrantids are known for their bright fireball meteors, which are visible longer than regular meteors as they come from larger particles. Many of us here in East Central Florida will see fog and stratus developing again overnight that will obscure the meteor shower, but the shower continues through January 12th. If you do keep mostly clear skies overnight, take a moment to look up and try to catch some meteors!
