The first middle school track meet took place yesterday. It was so - TopicsExpress

The first middle school track meet took place yesterday. It was so exciting to see the girls! Bush was the first team at the meet. They were already warming up before the next team arrived. The coaches had laminated large posters of the schedule of events and hung it at camp. They were like a fine oiled machine. Lopez has a strong group of girls this year. Coach Curtis was all over the field coaching and helping the girls adjust to their first meet of the year. Both programs had a lot of athletes! The girls were so sweet and so supportive of their teams. It was so nice to witness. No surprise, parent support was strong. I ran into several Reagan parents that have younger daughters competing. It was nice to see them excited about track. Some of the standout performances for future Reagan Rattlers were; Christi Mireles(Lopez ) won the 8th grade 800m with a time of 2:33. A good first race of the year. Christi currently holds the 7th grade Lopez record for the 800m and holds the 7th grade Meet of Champs 800m record(2:27.10) I was able to talk to Mr. and Mrs. Mireles and they said that Christi is VERY excited about running for Reagan. She will be out for the summer training! Kate Ryan(Bush) also had a strong showing. The took gold in the 400m and the long jump. Kate jumped and amazing 16-09.5 inches!!! Kate also took silver in the high jump with a jump of 4-8. I was not able to talk with her parents. But will make sure to make contact soon. Laury Hawkins(Lopez) won the 200m with a time of 28.02. She will be participating in track and basketball at Reagan. Camryn Ennis(Lopez) won the triple jump with a jump of 30-08. I was not able to make contact with Camryn. Hopefully she is interested in track at Reagan. Kirby Hayden(Lopez) took silver in the Pole Vault jumping 7-06. Brianna Muller(Lopez) won bronze in the 800m with a strong time of 2:36.19 The next middle school meet will be Wednesday 3/19/14 at Heroes stadium @4:30pm. Parents we need your help! If you can, please attend a meet and talk to parents that have athletes that will attend REAGAN. We really want them out over the summer. We cannot build the program that Reagan deserves without your help!
