The first time I heard that there is someone called Nelson Mandela and an organization called ANC, was on the 11th of February 1990, the day he was released from jail. Politics was forbidden in the former homeland of Venda. You could go to jail and even get hanged if you discussed politics. Thats how good architects of apartheid and their puppets were. White supremacy was never something you can even question. We were taught that whites are superior and everything which was nice, was associated with white people. We were told horrible stories about other South African cultures, so that we can hate them, leading to disunity amongst blacks. Freedom fighters were referred to as terrorists with superhuman powers who are out to kill us, not liberate us. Only newspaper was Thohoyandou News which was owned by government and only say good things about government only. Those apartheid architects knew exactly what they were doing.
