The first time I tried playing the game of chess, I discovered - TopicsExpress

The first time I tried playing the game of chess, I discovered some powerful principles that hold in the game and which I also later find applicable for life. I realized the pawn though seems to be the most numerous of all the pieces also appears to me to be the weakest when compared with the likes of the rook, bishop, knight, king and the queen. I initially hated the fact that it can only move forward and can never take a step backward like the other pieces. From the onset, after reading through the game help as a novice I came to realize that the queen was the most powerful piece on the board and can move in diverse directions to conquer its enemies, but the most flabbergasting part for me was when I discovered during my playing around with the game that one of my pawns on successfully reaching the other last end on the enemies’ side of the board was suddenly promoted to a queen, I wouldn’t have known as a beginner but by virtue of playing the game on a computer, the transformation was automatic and I was so dazzled. An inspiration dropped on my mind that sent shivers down my spine, I discovered that no matter how weak we might be or be tagged by people, if we will be so resolute on constantly moving forward and refusing to go backwards no matter our challenges in life, and if through God’s help we are able to overcome all enemies trap and remain in the game, a turning point which I termed “queening”- when the weakest pawn becomes the most powerful queen, will surely come for us, a point where we become so powerful and dreadful to the enemies’ kingdom and even to dethroning their king. The sole aim of the chess game is to checkmate the opposition’s king and win the challenge, it doesn’t matter who or what you are, if you will keep moving forward, if you will stay positive on life and see the brighter future ahead in spite of life’s ups and downs, you can be sure of changing your game, taking control of it and checkmating all of your life’s challenges. If you’ll play your part well and with God in your game you’ll always win. Don’t you give up!
