The first time, my wife (Gisèle) and I saw Lahr was in May 1967. We had just finished a posting in 3 (F) Wing Zweibrucken. Since Marville had just been closed, we were among the first people to be flying back to Canada from Lahr. There was no facilities in Lahr, yet, and we had to stay in the bus with our two small children (2 year olds and the baby almost one) until the plane was ready to be loaded. Twenty two years later, in 1989, I was posted to Lahr. The same summer, our son Gilles was also posted to Lahr. Our daughter, Sylvie, was living in Barrie at the time. I dont know if it is me, but most of the Bases I served at, are closed now... That posting to Lahr was probably the best posting I had in my 33years + in the Forces. As a CELE officer I worked for LCol Martel and then LCol Smith at the CCompt Branch. I was there from July 1989 to June 1993. And of course, Lahr closed at that time. This will be all for now, but I would really love to hear from anyone who would have served at in Lahr at that time.. À bientôt.
