The flag takes on a new meaning to the soldier. Freedom in the - TopicsExpress

The flag takes on a new meaning to the soldier. Freedom in the eyes of the average American, but fighting to those who swear their allegiance to their Country. They understand its their oath to protect until death... and life may very well be the cost. While in the midst of battle they watch as friends breathe a final time, hoping that it wasnt in vain. Blood covering the ground and smoke filling the air on the battlefield, while tears fall to the ground and prayers are lifted in the homes of the warrior. Many are not going to share in this victory, whether those that have lost their life or the mother that lost her son. War brings us face to face with the enemy... but he can be defeated... unfortunately life, the most fragile of all things, is the price. This is why the cross is my flag... it is the victory I share in. To many it represents freedom... but it was far more costly than all the wealth of the world. Knowing that the object of desire was you and I and the price was him... death would be the result. Death was always the victor, claiming everyone in time. This battle was different... Jesus never fought back but rather obeyed. The lashes were often enough to bring an early death... but it didnt this day. The path to Calvary was long and the cross was heavy... too heavy, so he collapsed. Torment, suffering, pain, agony, all by choice... all for you and I. Nails driven through tender flesh and into the cross as the echoes from onlookers cheer crucify him. Raising his cross and dropping his raw and pierced body attached to the instrument of torture into the earth he created... all for you and I. Bowing his head and uttering it is finished death had claimed its next victim... Family, friends, and followers all in shock... Im so glad the story doesnt end there. The empty tomb says the rest... victory won by surrender. God gave his son the ransom for all sin... death lost its power and God showed his. Being a soldier of the cross is my call... its yours too. It will cost your life... whether you die in old age after a life time of ministry or persecution. Its not to be taken lightly as so many do... its a spiritual battle that is like the wars we witness in our world. Life isnt easy but eternity will be if you follow this way... sacrifice, submission, and suffering were part of our salvation and may continue to be in the days ahead. No matter what the victory is permanent and you can persevere through the trials.
