The fleece stuff sack pillow idea came about from the stuff sack pillow - naturally. Why not have a dedicated sack for creating your own pillow, but softer? With my partners creative sewing skills, we came up with 2 iterations. The first one was too small and the slit was horizontal in the middle. Didnt work that well. Too small to put stuff in, and the guts kept spilling out. The second iteration was much better. Bigger, with the opening at the one side, and included a bigger cover. Due to its improved design and usability, it was the main stay for some time. Of course, some of the disadvantages from the original stuff sack pillow still existed, but it was a noticeable improvement. But, it certainly didnt stop us from still looking. We jumped at the opportunity to purchase them and try it out, especially as it was small, fairly compact and light. (Unfortunately, I dont have pictures of these particular pillows, so the one posted is from the internet and shows a close resemblance.) They were simply a knit fabric on one side, nylon on the other, and had some cheap synthetic fill inside. It was a no-frills, easy to maintain pillow, which you literally just throw in the wash and dryer, and it was ready to go again. I think the only downside, was the fact it compressed a bit too easily, thus not providing enough head support, but in general worked pretty well. But why stop there? Next, the memory foam pillow. Yup, moving up in the camping world! Advantages of a camping pillow - compact and light - always clean - soft Disadvantages of a camping pillow - slightly bulky - not enough support (compresses too easy)
