The flood has subsided in most areas. Now it is the period of recovery and rehabilitation. Most health facilities have started functioning albeit at a slow rate. Electrical supply to most facilities have been restored. Water supply is being restored at a very slow rate. That remains our major challenge. During this entire crisis the Ministry of Health has attempted to manage most of the issues being posed to us ,mostly thro our own initiatives,some with the help of other govt agencies . I laud the service provided by some of the GLCs and NGO. The attempt by GLCs to integrate their resources and reach out to the community directly had good effect. I must express my gratitude to PLUS for the great support and assistance rendered to us by allowing us to transport food, medication and ill patients using their heli service. We had the opportunity to work as a well coordinated team with the great support of the medical Corp of ATM and HUSM. The seamless cooperation between the different agencies to ensure optimal delivery is a stirling example of how agencies can cooperate together in facing a crisis. I hope such cooperation can be continued on a long term basis.
