The following ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been brought to us by Rev. Denise Rogers and husband Rick. Denise explained the challenge. Our challenge started in church and we are taking it back to church. This Sunday morning (August 31), Rick and I are splitting our $100 (for missing the 24 hours deadline) in two and seeding 2 buckets of loving and helping others in the Name of Jesus! According to Christ, in the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:8), “Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” We want our seed to do exactly that – to multiply in the Name of Jesus on the good soil that is the place where Christ’s body gathers. Here is how our challenge is going to work. The buckets will be available from the time the church opens Sunday morning until the end of worship service. At that time, we will count what is in each bucket. If Rick raises more than me, he gets to dump the ice water on me. If I raise more than him, I get to dump the water on Rick. And… If a third bucket in the Name of Jesus doubles both of us, Tommy Towns, you have the privilege of dousing the one that is still dry! All on the front steps of FUMC Mart…
