The following closures and lane restrictions are expected the rest of this week in connection with construction on the Downtown Crossing: Work Currently Underway: Louisville Streets: • Hancock Street from Main Street to Washington Street is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, August 30 for demolition work in the area. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Witherspoon Street from Adams Street to River Road through Friday, September 26 for demolition work in the area. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent overnight lane closures are scheduled on Mellwood Avenue under I-64 through Friday, September 26 for demolition work in the area, leaving only one lane of Mellwood Avenue open to traffic. • Intermittent lane closures are scheduled on Story Avenue under I-64 through Friday, September 26 for demolition work in the area, leaving only one lane of Story Avenue open to traffic. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Frankfort Avenue from Story Avenue to River Road through Friday, September 26 for work in the area. Local access will be available between Story Avenue and Washington Street. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Floyd Street through Friday, September 26 for pile driving. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Main Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street through Friday, September 26 for demolition and bridge work. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street through Friday, September 26 for demolition and bridge work. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Floyd Street from Muhammad Ali Boulevard to Liberty Street through Friday, September 26 for bridge work. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Liberty Street from Floyd Street to Preston Street through Friday, September 26 for pile driving. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Preston Street from Jefferson Street to Liberty Street through Friday, September 26 for bridge work. A signed detour will be in place. • Intermittent closures are scheduled on Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street through Friday, September 26 for bridge work. A signed detour will be in place. Indiana Side: • North Shore Drive is closed at Court Avenue to allow for road work and paving work in the area. It closed Friday, August 15 and is expected to remain closed for about two weeks. Local access will be available, with a signed detour in place. Work Scheduled for This Week: Kentucky Side: Work scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 19: • The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 North is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, August 19-Saturday, August 23 for demolition work. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. A signed detour will be in place. • The ramp from Story Avenue to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, August 19-Saturday, August 23 for work in the area. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. A signed detour will be in place. • Only one lane of I-64 West from the Story Avenue ramp to the I-65 split is scheduled to be open overnight Tuesday, August 19-Saturday, August 23 for work in the area. Lane closures are expected to begin around 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. each day. • One lane of I-65 South from the Kennedy Bridge to Muhammad Ali Boulevard is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, August 19-Saturday, August 23 for pile driving. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. • One lane of I-65 North from just past Brook Street to the Kennedy Bridge is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, August 19-Saturday, August 23 for pile driving. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. • One lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to the Kennedy Bridge is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, August 19-Saturday, August 23 for demolition work. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. Work scheduled for Thursday, August 21: • Rolling closures are expected project-wide Thursday, August 21 for pothole patching. Work is scheduled 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Louisville Streets: Work scheduled to begin Thursday, August 21: • Preston Street from Jefferson Street to Liberty Street is scheduled to be closed Thursday, August 21-Thursday, September 11 for pile driving and concrete work. A signed detour will be in place. • Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed Thursday, August 21-Thursday, September 11 for pile driving and concrete work. A signed detour will be in place. Continuing Closures and Restrictions: Kentucky Side: • The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15, 2013 and is expected to be closed through the spring of 2016. • I-65 North from Muhammad Ali Boulevard to Witherspoon Street has been reduced from three through lanes of traffic to two, with the right lane a mandatory exit to Muhammad Ali Boulevard. The lane reduction is expected to continue into 2015. • The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15, 2013 and is expected to be closed through 2016. Indiana Side: • Broadway Street has closed from Court Avenue to 6th Street. This includes the closure of the 6th Street ramp to I-65 North. These are permanent closures. • 7th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street. This is a permanent closure. • VFW Boulevard has closed from 7th Street to 9th Street. This is a permanent closure. • US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes. • US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane. Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street. • The northbound collector distributor ramp in Jeffersonville has been reduced to one lane between 10th Street and Stansifer Avenue. The closure will be in place through late 2015. The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
