The following has been credited to Arthur W. Pink: Now notice, carefully, the very next thing which immediately followed our Lord’s reference to the two ways in Matthew 7: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15). Why does this come in next? Who are the false prophets against which a serious soul needs to be on his guard? They are those who teach that Heaven may be reached without treading the Narrow Way! They are those who loudly insist that eternal life may be obtained on much easier terms. They come in sheep’s clothing: they appear (to undiscerning souls) to exalt Christ, to emphasize His precious blood, to magnify God’s grace. But they do not insist upon repentance; they fail to tell their hearers that nothing but a broken heart which hates sin can truly believe in Christ; they declare not that a saving faith is a living one which purifies the heart (Acts 15:9) and overcomes the world (1 John 5:4). First off, we must be careful when we go to EXTRA SCRIPTURAL sources for what we believe. Note his statement which said, Who are the false prophets against which a serious soul needs to be on his guard? They are those who teach that Heaven may be reached without treading the Narrow Way! Pink, like all religionists has made a serious mistake here. He has mistaken the NARROW WAY for a PATH WHICH ONE TREADS TO HEAVEN! And it follows, as he has made clear, that the walk determines the ultimate destination. The truth of the Scriptures is that the NARROW WAY is a PERSON WHICH ONE TRUSTS, and upon trusting that person, (Ephesians 1:13) the believer is IMMEDIATELY IN HEAVEN (Eph. 2:5-6). Salvation is not a walk to heaven by and by. It is a spiritual transportation into heaven IMMEDIATELY. The difference is the difference in Cain and Able, Jacob and Esau, Peter and Judas, those who did nothing but look to the serpent on the pole and those who did anything or everything else, it is the difference in those who do no more than trust in him who is the way, the truth and the life and those who say Lord have not we done...? Matthew 7:22 Never forget, the serpent is STILL the most subtle beast of the field. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in heaven. Matt. 7:21 John 6:40, And THIS IS THE WILL OF HIM THAT SENT ME, that every one which seeth the Son, and BELIEVETH ON HIM, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
