The following has been in other news sources (FYI) A man now living in Armstrong is claiming to have plans to build a Catholic Monastery and is soliciting money according to the Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City and the Howard County Sheriffs Department. According to the Diocese, this man has no affiliation with the church and is acting on false pretenses. The Sheriffs Department said the man purchased land in Armstrong with an intent to build the structure. The individual goes by the name of Ryan Scott. Diocese Bishop John R. Gaydos, said this individual does not have permission to construct any such building. Diocese officials were alerted by the police chief in Salisbury. Cases such as these have been occurring in St. Louis; LaCrosse, Wis., Peoria, Ill., Bismarck, N.D. and Dubuque, Iowa. Anyone who encounters the man is encouraged to call local authorities.
