The following is a message from Aitch (IOF Drummer) to everyone who was involved and a part of the two commemorative shows celebrating the words & life of Stig. ICONS OF FILTH: A TALE OF STIGS CELEBRATION GIGS 2014. At a get together for my 50th birthday with Daffy, Ed and Calvin July 2013, Daff mentioned doing a 10th celebration year gig for Stigs lyrics and Icons Of Filth. We all agreed so the journey started again. After a few suspect rehearsals at Tom & Alys (Drummer & lead vocalist of The D Teez) we finally started to realise, yes we need and can do this to celebrate our friend and brother. April 2014 we sat down with Gwyn (Co owner of The Moon Club) and Gareth Lewis (organiser) to set up the event. We tried for an October gig but certain people were busy around this month so November it was to be. Calvin, Gareth and Ben set about getting bands interested to play. Icons doing the easy bit asking Cardiff bands to play (were old now). We continued to rehearse at Rhys Bryants place in Newport. Many thanks mate for letting us use your equipment. After hearing the gig had sold out we could have gone to a slightly bigger venue, but after all the organisation that had gone on we were lucky the Friday night was free at The Moon also. So that was it... Two gigs, two days. Back to the drawing board, who was going to play Friday? But more bands said they were up for it. So we finally got all the bands sorted (phew). Only worry was could we pull it off after not playing together for 9 years? Hopefully we did. Dont give up the dream... cos we aint. Thanks Icons Of Filth. All the bands that played the Stiggy Smeg celebration, we hope we did it justice too.
