The following is over heavy with figures, but it may be worth a read: According to the IDF: Since 2001, more than 15,200 rockets and mortars, an average of over 3 rocket attacks every single day, have targeted Israel.(idfblog/facts-figures/rocket-attacks-toward-israel/) As of July 2014 those attacks have killed 28 people (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_rocket_attacks_on_Israel). Of course 28 deaths are 28 too many. But sad as the deaths are, they are not in any way a national emergency. [I should note here that 28 is the number of Israeli dead from rocket attacks. Far far more have died in those 13 years from such things as suicide bombings (402 Israeli civilians) and other causes (approximately 300 Israeli civilians). But the reason given by the IDF and by the Israeli government for the war on Gaza is the danger of rocket attacks.] According to the IDF: since the start of operation [protective edge] over 1000 rockets have been launched at Israel. Of those, 754 have hit Israel and approximately 201 were intercepted by the Iron Dome Missile defense system. So the IDF claim a 20% success rate for the Iron Dome . 80% of rockets were not stopped. Then how can it be that those rockets presented a serious threat when in 13 years of heavy rocket fire on Israel’s civilians (IDF), 28 people have been killed? Thirteen years. How could it be that life was unbearable for more than 3.5 million Israelis. (IDF) when 28 people have been killed in 13 years? How can it be that The single goal of operation [protective edge] is to stop Hamas’ incessant rocket attacks against Israel’s civilians (IDF), when 28 Israelis have been killed in 13 years? As we know, over 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in this year alone. How can we believe anything that the government of the Israeli state says? How can it not be crystal clear that it is the policy of the Israeli government to murder Palestinians, and that the rockets are nothing but a feeble excuse that the world accepts to its shame? How can we do other than hate what is being done? The criminals I will not hate. But the crime against humanity . . . Here are two photographs. One posted by the IDF of an Israeli house, captioned Rocket fire from Gaza causes severe damage, the other of the reality of damage in Gaza.
