The following report on John;s health was sent to us this morning by Deanna Sisk-Burns, Kevins Wife. Deanna and Kevin have shown so much love and compassion to John. I know this is a huge responsibility but it is also a labor of love. Here is the message that Deanna sent. As you will read, John is still making us laugh. Hi Rob, thanks for asking about Dad. He is doing as well as to be expected. His physical health remains very good. The medications he is on now have done a tremendous job curbing his aggressive behaviors. The down side to that is the medication makes him sleep most of the time. We have been very blessed with Hospice, they come in twice a week and are so caring and compassionate to him. Last week, he was honored at a Veteran’s Day Program and he really seemed to enjoy the attention, and this weekend, the center is hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner for the residents and their families. This will be the first holiday dinner at our home he will miss. I’m sure this will be a difficult time most of all for Kevin, the first of many holidays Dad won’t be at. We had quite a scare with him last week (lol!). I got a call from the nursing home at 5:35 a.m. and the nurse said, and I quote, “Mrs. Burns, sorry to call you so early, but I needed to inform you that we found your dad on the bathroom floor this morning.” I said “Oh no!” as I took Kevin’s hand preparing to tell him the dreaded news that his dad had passed, when the nurse said, “He’s fine now, appears he was just sleeping. He was found stretched out straight with both hands behind his head, legs crossed just snoozing away!” We both thought later that maybe the nurse could have worded that a little differently!
