The following statement is issued by La Salle College in response to enquiries The College Administration respects the diversity of views on Hong Kong’s political development. It firmly upholds the freedom of speech or expression. Students are free to be involved in this expression of views in the public domains, be it via social media platforms or through events. No one will be limited or influenced or penalized by the College Administration in such involvement. At the same time the College Administration also respects those families who do not wish their sons to be involved in such activities at school or elsewhere. As a secondary boys school of 12- 17 year olds coming from 1,400 families of different political inclinations, the school has an obligation to protect everyone’s rights. The College Administration will ensure that the different political views will not undermine the harmony and unity of the school. It will continue to strive to protect everyones interests, and to do so requires some degree of compromise by all. 22 September, 2014
