The foolish young women in Sundays parable thought that they were invited to the wedding party for a role they were to play. They got so distracted by their role and its details that they forgot that they were invited simply out of the sheer joy and generosity of the bridegroom. In the same way, you and I and every follower of Christ can become so focused on the roles or the work that we think God has called us to perform that we forget that God simply loves us and wants us to join the party He has planned to share with us from before the beginning of Creation. “Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.
