The founder of LegalShield passed away this week and today is his funeral. 42 years ago, Harland C. Stonecipher had a vision and a mission to make equal justice available and affordable for all. Without his tenacity, he would not have built this Half a Billion dollar business from nothing, which gives people access to their rights, and later in the business they added identity theft protection. He started as a sharecroppers son, living in a shack. When I have days that seem difficult, I need to think about what he went through to build this company. It was a new idea, to offer legal services, similar to how we access health insurance. Sure, he was ridiculed and opposed, like all new great ideas are, but he didnt give up. I am proud to be carrying on his legacy as a LegalShield Associate, where I not only get to offer people the services, but the business opportunity as well. Tom and I got to meet Harland and his wife Shirley on a number of occasions at conventions and company trips, and when I heard he passed, I cried. Hard to explain, but he sacrificed so much so people could have access. His wife even sold their furniture in the early days, just to keep the company afloat. How many CEOs would do that nowadays?
